Origins:The whole idea for this comic can be derived from a single pair of pants. Back in my senior year of High School I was eating lunch on the quads when I saw one of the girls that ate with us wearing some weird pants from Hot Topic. They were, what Hot Topic calls, bondage pants. I thought the concept was interesting and while I was bored in the next period, an idea started to form in my head. Going into a semi-daydreaming state I saw a girl wearing the same pants with her face painted white and red kicking down the door to a dinner and killing a whole bunch of people that looked like Spike from Cowboy Bebop. Nothing too interesting or original. But, then the true inspiration started to come. For my art class I had to create an alternate dimension and make a drawing and story based off of it. I wrote a (crappy) story, which was basically chapter 1 of this comic. Originally the Goths and the Punks were the two gangs, but then I figured I'd get really sick of drawing punk rockers and changed the Punks to the Suits. I also had to make a comic for the same art class (maybe I'll put it up one day so you can all behold the l33t shading skizzils) and I was going to do the first chapter, but then changed it to a prologue of this comic. Background:The comic splits with our reality in the year 2005. As Ch. 0 is not done yet, I'm going to skip ahead to the year 2020. Read Ch. 0 to learn what happens between 2005 and 2020. Around this time the Goths and Suits control the city. The Goths, being anarchists, want no government whatsoever in the city. The Suits on the other hand want a limited government, through which they can make money. As neither wanted to compromise, they decide to split the city in two. The Goths, fearing people outside of their gang might threaten their anarchy, drove all non-gang members out of their side. The displaced people were obviously very angry with the Goths, and soon afterwards the Suits lead these people in an invasion of the Goths territory. The Suits caught the Goths completely by surprise and soon the Goths began to lose territory very quickly. The Suits were able to continue to push into the Goths territory with little resistance because they had absolutely no coordination with their defenses. Then a very skilled warrior emerged from the Goths, proclaiming himself king. Over the course of several months this man was able to unite a majority of the Goths under him and managed to force the Suits back to near the original border. Fighting continued for several more months after this, but with little gains for either side. A truce was called between the leaderships of both gangs. Soon afterward the king of the Goths was killed by one of his own gang members because the assassin felt that a monarchy threatened the Goths ideals of an anarchy. Fighting continued sporadically until the present, but the truce is still in effect. Both gangs are currently building up their forces and resources, waiting for a good opportunity to attack. To fund the fighting, both gangs have turned to drug dealing. In addition the Goths sell captured Suits as slaves and the Suits have turned to traditional mafia tactics, such as extortion and forcing businesses to pay protection money. |
